Can Natural Skincare Help Sensitive Skin and Eczema?

Can Natural Skincare Help Sensitive Skin and Eczema?

Originally published 17 August 2026.

Sometimes the best skincare isn't about finding the next miracle ingredient. Sometimes it's about getting back to the basics.

Last Saturday at the Airlie Beach Markets, a father stopped by the Bloom stall with his 10-year-old son.

The little boy had eczema on his face. Like many parents, his dad wasn't looking for a miracle cure. He wasn't expecting skincare to magically make eczema disappear. He simply wanted to know if there was a gentler, more natural approach that might help support his son's skin.

We spent some time chatting about his concerns, looked at the products together, and discussed the ingredients we use and, just as importantly, the ingredients we choose to leave out.

That conversation reminded me why Bloom exists.

Sometimes people don't want more chemicals, more fragrances or more promises. They simply want skincare that is thoughtfully made, gentle on the skin and created with care.

Understanding Sensitive Skin and Eczema

Sensitive skin can react to products in many different ways. For some people it's dryness, redness or irritation. For others, conditions such as eczema make everyday skincare even more challenging.

Eczema is a common skin condition that affects people of all ages, particularly children. While there is no single solution that works for everyone, many people find that simplifying their skincare routine and avoiding unnecessary irritants can make a noticeable difference.

It's important to remember that eczema is a medical condition, and if symptoms are severe or persistent, it's always best to seek advice from a qualified healthcare professional.

Why Some People Choose Natural Skincare

Natural skincare isn't about claiming to cure skin conditions.

Instead, it's about choosing products made with ingredients that nourish and support the skin rather than overwhelming it.

Many commercially produced skincare products contain long ingredient lists that may include synthetic fragrances, harsh detergents, artificial colours or unnecessary additives. While these ingredients are perfectly suitable for many people, those with sensitive skin often prefer simpler formulations.

At Bloom, we've always believed that less can be more.

Rather than trying to include every trending ingredient, we focus on carefully selected botanical oils, rich plant butters and naturally nourishing ingredients that have stood the test of time.

Ingredients That Love Your Skin

Every ingredient we choose has a purpose.

Shea Butter

Rich in natural fatty acids and vitamins, shea butter is renowned for helping to soften and moisturise dry skin while supporting the skin's natural barrier.

Jojoba Oil

Interestingly, jojoba oil closely resembles the skin's own natural oils, making it a beautiful lightweight moisturiser that absorbs easily without leaving a heavy or greasy feeling.

Sweet Almond Oil

Packed with vitamins and essential fatty acids, sweet almond oil has long been used to help nourish dry and delicate skin.

Aloe Vera

Known for its cooling and soothing properties, aloe vera provides lightweight hydration and is often included in skincare designed for sensitive skin.

Coconut Milk

Featured in many of our bath products, coconut milk creates a beautifully creamy bath while leaving the skin feeling soft and silky.

Oats

Oats have been used in traditional skincare for generations and are well known for their comforting and calming properties, particularly in bath soaks designed for dry or itchy skin.

It's Also About What We Leave Out

Just as important as the ingredients we include are the ones we don't.

At Bloom you'll never find products packed with artificial colourants simply to make bath water look pretty.

Our bath bombs remain beautifully natural because we believe nobody wants to spend twenty minutes cleaning coloured residue from the bathtub after a relaxing soak.

We also avoid unnecessary fillers and focus on creating products that are as simple and effective as possible.

Every Skin Is Different

One thing I've learned through countless conversations at markets is that no two people have exactly the same skin.

A product that works beautifully for one person may not suit another.

That's why we always recommend performing a small patch test before introducing any new skincare product, particularly if you have sensitive skin or a diagnosed skin condition.

Natural ingredients can still cause sensitivities for some individuals, so taking that extra step is always worthwhile.

Small Changes Can Make a Big Difference

If you have sensitive skin, sometimes the biggest improvements don't come from adding more products.

They come from simplifying your routine.

Choosing gentle cleansers.

Using nourishing moisturisers.

Avoiding harsh ingredients where possible.

Listening to what your skin is telling you.

The Bloom Philosophy

That conversation with the young dad stayed with me long after the market finished.

Not because I had all the answers.

But because it reminded me that skincare isn't really about products.

It's about people.

It's about parents trying to do the very best for their children.

It's about finding products you feel comfortable using every single day.

At Bloom Organics, we don't believe in miracle claims or overnight transformations.

We believe in creating handmade, small-batch skincare using carefully selected natural ingredients, honest advice and a genuine desire to help people care for their skin.

Sometimes the simplest approach is the one your skin has been asking for all along.
